Christmas Films

The Queensbridge kids have done it again! In place of our usual Christmas extravaganzas, these films are their Christmas presents to you. Each class learnt new songs and practised hard ready to perform. The children have memorised lyrics, learnt instrumental parts, created backdrops, dressed up for the occasion and, in some cases, written their own songs to bring you some Queensbridge joy at this time. All classes sang within their own class bubbles in line with Covid safety regulations. Thanks also to the staff teams giving their time and enthusiasm to our first film project, and to Dana, Will and Mark for giving their time and skills for filming and editing. We couldn't have done it without you.

Hello! It is fantastic to be back at Queensbridge for the Autumn Term. We are so pleased to see everybody and are looking forward to some great music-making this term. The info-sheet below gives more details about changes to music activities in respect to Covid19. 

QUEENSBRIDGE HAS GOT TALENT!

Welcome to QB's got talent! This is our first ever talent show, and it's wonderful to have these brilliant entries to start us off. Thank you to all of the children and members of staff that have jumped in with both feet to showcase their talents. It's a great way to celebrate the end of term, and to see the different ways in which members of our community shine. Remember, there aren't any nasty judges like on TV. You are all winners with your skills. But there will be a prize for the class with the most entries - to be claimed next year. You can share things that you liked about the performances in the comments below - just positive comments please (reflecting the Queensbridge values). Hope you enjoy watching! 

Queensbridge is going Ukulele crazy!

We were very excited to receive our class set of 35 Ukuleles last week at Queensbridge (enough for the teachers too).

During the next academic year, we will be learning Ukulele from reception to Year 6. In the meantime, the children who are currently in school have been having a go on the new instruments and learning a little tune (in the style of Bo Diddley's playing) called the Thumb Brush Strum. They have made a brilliant start. What do you think? 

I Am Somebody

At Queensbridge, everybody is somebody. We have been inspired by Jesse Jackson reciting the poem I Am - Somebody  by Reverend William Holmes Borders with children on Sesame Street in 1972.  Queensbridge produced it's own version to celebrate the diversity of the school community.

In class bubbles and at home, children have been writing their own poems. Some of us have been creating backing tracks with SONGMAKER CHROME in groups, and then reciting the poems with a solo line and a unison, choral response. Here are some of our first recordings. The Stay Safe Rap

As the school opens up to more children this week, we are thinking about sharing the message to help all of our community to stay safe.

Official release of What Kind of World Are We Trying to Make?

Last year, Queensbridge Junior Choir took part in a project called Voices Around the World. We learnt the song What Kind of World Are We Trying To Make? We recorded the choir singing and dancing and sent audio and video files to be edited along with the voices of thousands of other children from all over the world. After a long wait, we're excited to announce that the song has been officially released for download. You can download it here or watch the wonderful video below - featuring lots of shots of Queensbridge! How moving to see so many schools and youth groups involved. Please share with friends and family.

Spring Update

The Chamber Choir performed magnificently as part of the Music for Youth Regional Festival in Camden. Junior Choir has been learning new songs with the Armonico Consort, and on the orchestra and yeargroup pages there are loads of resources to help you to practise your music at home. 

Don't forget to watch some of the lovely performances that our children have been giving as part of music assemblies. You can see them on the Performers page. 

Thanks to all of the parents who completed the survey recently. We love to hear your feedback and hope to continue to improve communication around music. Please ensure that any music slips that come home are returned to school as soon as possible.
